HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) is set to launch a new motorcycle in India on the 2nd of August, 2023. However, the deliveries of this new model are scheduled to start during the festive season this year. We don’t know a lot of details and specifications about this motorcycle, but what we do know is that it would be in the 150cc to 180cc segment.

Honda already has two motorcycles selling in this segment, the Unicorn 160 and Hornet 180. The Unicorn is powered by a 162.7cc engine and finds great importance with people looking for efficiency over anything else. This motorcycle produces 12.73 bhp and 14 Nm of torque. The Hornet 2.0, on the other hand, gets a 184.4cc engine making 17.03 bhp power and 16.1 Nm torque. It replaced the Hornet 160 with a slightly bigger engine, though the performance wasn’t a huge leap.
We can expect to see a combination of specs and feel of the two motorcycles and be positioned between them. We did lose the 160cc Hornet recently, though the automaker could the specs it back with a different naming. This would make more sense since Honda already serves the commuter class well with a 125cc and an efficient 160cc.
The pricing could be crucial here since it could slot between INR 1.05 (approx) for the Unicorn and INR 1.37 (approx) for the Hornet. If the motorcycle is positioned between the two, we can expect a pricing of anywhere between INR 1.10 lakhs and INR 1.20 lakhs. All figures are exclusive showroom prices in Delhi.
